I have read and understand how the Joslin at the Movies program works
Joslin volunteers go to the participating theaters to assist with a canister donation collection. Before each movie, a trailer about Joslin Diabetes Center plays. Immediately after, volunteers announce that they will be collecting donations for Joslin Diabetes Center and pass around canisters to collect donations.
Volunteers should arrive at the cinema about 5 minutes before their shift. At the ticket counter or customer service area, volunteers should ask for a manager, introduce themselves and explain that they are a volunteer for the Joslin program. The manager will have your name prior to your shift, but as this program is spread over a month it will help to remind them. The manager will give you a tour, t-shirt, provide you with the schedule of which theaters to visit when, and provide you with the canisters to pass around. You will follow a schedule and go from theater to theater as each movie begins. In your “free time” at the cinema, you can collect donations in the concession area. When your shift is concluded (or if your canister gets too full) please bring your canister and the money you have collected back to the manager at customer service. We request that volunteers under the age of 18 have a parent or guardian present for the duration of their shift. Volunteers will receive two movie passes per volunteer in December after the conclusion of the program. Please be sure to snap a photo of you at your shift and send it to Martha.Ho@Joslin.Harvard.edu.
I allow Joslin to use any photos I send as part of the program.
