A Rising Star demonstrates the true spirit of an athlete that has had a great "Active Start" in sport.

Through the Rising Sport Stars program The City of Red Deer will acknowledge our youth for their commitment, passion, effort and sometimes overcoming adversity, to successfully participate and develop skills, regardless of the result. Local sport organizations are asked to submit up to 5 names of athletes 12 years or younger who are just beginning their journey to success in sport and beginning the “Active for Life” journey.

Deadline for submissions will be Monday, May 1, 2023. Athletes must be supported by their Local Sport Organization who will in turn advise recipients of the Rising Star award.

The awards will be presented during Xplore Sport Day on Saturday, May 13, 2023 at Capstone - Canada 150 Square. We will reach out to all Nominators prior to the event with details for the presentations.
