DNR Urban and Community Forestry Grant Interest
DNR Urban and Community Forestry Grant Interest
This survey will close on June 30th, 2023.
The DNR Urban & Community Forestry Program will receive six million dollars in federal funding from the USDA Forest Service (Inflation Reduction Act funding) and an additional six million dollars from the State of Washington’s new Climate Commitment Fund.
At least $4.5 million in federal funding must be spent in disadvantaged communities identified by the CEJST mapping tool. Awarded projects must benefit the residents living within the areas designated by the map, and there is a full, 100% match waiver for grant funds.
A portion of the Climate Commitment funding will be used for grant-funded urban forestry projects throughout the state, and there will likely be at least a 50% matching requirement (1 dollar of match for every 2 dollars requested).
Local governments, tribes, 501c3 non-profit organizations, educational institutions, and special taxing districts (school districts, conservation districts, parks districts, etc.) are eligible to apply to either pool of funding.
Results of this survey will be used to assess demand and shape delivery of urban forestry grants for 2024. Please use the last question on the survey to note any barriers that you see to applying for grant funds.
