Traditional Music Day

@ Strathearn Arts

Plockton School Music (Sgoil Chiùil Na Gàidhealtachd) visit Strathearn Arts on Sunday 30th March for an afternoon and evening of traditional music, sessions and workshops.


The plan for the day is:


11.45am Welcome

Time for chat and networking


12.15 *Meet the instruments*

For children to meet the musicians playing in

the evening concert and ask questions


1pm Community session

A ‘taught session’ led by Blackford Fiddle Group, with music suitable for all ages and abilities, children & adults


2.30 Adults session

A bit faster!


3.15 Senior Fiddle workshop with Mike Vass

For more advanced fiddle players


4.30pm Morrison’s Snr. Fiddle Band

Performance from Morrison’s Academy students


6pm Evening concert

Plockton School of Music Spring Tour Band



Please note that children will need to be accompanied by a responsible adult at all times. Strathearn Arts will not be responsible for supervising children, and adults should not leave them unaccompanied.

Student musicians from Plockton School of Music will demonstrate their instruments, which include fiddles, pipes, accordion, banjo and clarsach (harp).

An informal session led by players from the Blackford Fiddle Group. Open to all.

Workshop for more able fiddle/violin players. Limited spaces available.
