FAQs
What can I report? You can report anything you believe is concerning. This is an additional forum for residents to raise concerns, report mistreatment, and provide feedback. You can report concerns about anything, such as work-hour violations, harassment, sleeping rooms, or interpersonal issues. Making us aware of issues allows us to advocate for you and your peers, and make changes.
Why should I report? The GME Office is focused on creating and ensuring its programs provide a civil, psychologically safe, and inclusive learning environment. Sharing your concern can help us address the issue and promote a healthy and productive environment for all residents.
Who can report a concern? Any member of the GME community (trainees, faculty members, program leadership) can report a concern that affects them or another person in the community. You may feel uneasy about sharing a concern that affects you. We encourage you to please report it.
Can I report my concern anonymously? You can report your concerns anonymously. It is important you feel comfortable and safe throughout this reporting process. The GME Office will endeavor to honor your boundaries and make this a safe and comfortable process for you. Providing your contact information allows us to keep you informed, gather additional information, and respond effectively.
Who will see my report? Concerns are sent directly to Dr. Sondra Jepson, the Designated Institutional Official and Assistant Dean for GME. Dr. Jepson will review your report and share relevant information only with appropriate contacts who can best resolve your concern.
Will my report result in disciplinary action? Individuals who report concerns out of good faith will not face disciplinary consequences. Depending upon the severity of the concern, coaching, or other performance management, actions may occur. If the concern merits disciplinary action, Noorda-COM’s Human Resources Department will handle the matter privately. Your privacy and confidentiality will be respected throughout the process.
What will happen after I file a report? Every situation is unique. Some matters may be addressed privately, whereas other issues may have a visible outcome, like creating a new policy requiring gender-neutral restrooms.
The process (in most situations) is:
- You submit a confidential report;
- The GME Office contacts you for additional details and to discuss next steps (if you provide contact information);
- The GME Office investigates and follows up with relevant individuals; and
- The GME Office shares outcomes and action steps, as appropriate, with you.
