UO CAPS Oregon Virtual Visit Application

Please Read

In order to take advantage of the opportunities made possible by the current remote learning environment to invite faculty from other Oregon institutions into local classrooms, the University of Oregon's Center for Asian and Pacific Studies (CAPS) is broadening the use of our speaker series' funds to include modest honoraria ($250) for faculty at Oregon institutions to participate in virtual visits to other Oregon institutions, universities, and colleages. Only applications with a significant Asia/Pacific component will be approved for funding.

Please note, as part of our lecture series, recipients must put in place appropriate procedures to allow Q&A and prevent disruptive influences (e.g., "Zoom-bombing"). Priority will be given to i) first-time requests; ii) student-centered class sessions in which students are discussing the work of the visiting faculty rather than listening to a lecture; iii) open-to-the-public lectures to faculty, staff, and students featuring UO faculty. l.

CAPS will provide funding for the honoraria and assist with technology as needed. For lectures, we can also help develop a poster and advertising. These applications will be accepted on a rolling basis, and we will aim for a rapid response.
