GBR DISCRETIONARY SELECTION FORM

Purpose of Form:

To be completed by any athlete wishing to be considered for discretionary selection to represent Great Britain.

For details of the availability of discretionary selection and please refer to the Selection Policy. Unless stated otherwise, applications for discretionary selection must be received 2 weeks before any published selection point. Any mitigating circumstances or discretionary cases in which an athlete wishes to be considered in the selection decisions should be submitted in writing using this form.

This includes uploading the most recent BF Athlete Assessment document, which is expected to be completed by the athlete and their personal coach.

Please read and familiarise yourself with the current FTEM model that the ADP Team are using to assess your current level, against the set performance standards. To find the information you need regarding the FTEM model and assessment, please click here:

This process allows you to understand the FTEM model, and what it requires to be a high-performing fencer and assess yourself against those standards. This can be reassessed periodically when performances or results indicate a significant improvement from your current rating.

Your self-assessment will be reviewed by the ADP Lead against the current standards and should be reviewed periodically with your coaches. This process is designed to tailor the support we can provide athletes and help guide them to additional ways of training or thinking. You must assess yourself to your current level, and not to the level that wishes to achieve.
