Emergency Grant-in-Aid Application
Eligible expenses: Any unanticipated or unusual expenses outside of the typical postdoc budget will be considered. Emergency Grant-in-Aid funds are not intended for standard living expenses, regular medical, dental, and vision copays, including Emergency Room copays, visa expenses, research-related expenses, or when other aid has ceased. Reimbursements for medical, dental, and vision expenses are considered once the Out-of-Pocket Maximum has been reached. Each case is considered on its own merits.

Upload all required documentation to this form:
- Complete the Grant-in-Aid Excel worksheet and upload it to this form
- Medical and dental expense reimbursement requests MUST be accompanied by your insurance policy's Explanation of Benefits and show that you have reached our out-of-pocket maximum. We do not reimburse expenses for out of network care or non-covered services unless there is a compelling medical reason from your provider.
- Proof of payment of expenses, i.e., credit card statements, bank statements, or cancelled checks.
- Postdoctoral Scholars who are married or in a registered domestic partnership must include their and their spouse’s latest income tax return (first page only with social security numbers redacted). International postdocs who do not have a tax return must provide other documentation proving income (including international funds), marital status and/or dependent status.
The Office of Postdoctoral Affairs will review the applicant’s financial assistance history and appointment record. The Grant-In-Aid Committee will contact you for additional information or to notify you of the status of your application via email approximately four to six weeks after all required application materials have been received.
