Good Samaritan Local Scholarship
Requirements & Eligibility:
- Funds can be awarded to employees who currently work at a Good Samaritan location.
- The amount of available Foundation may vary by location.
- Note – some locations don’t have any available funds, thus employees should inquire with their Administrator before applying.
- The funds can be awarded to assist an employee with the costs associated with current or past education.
- Examples include classes/degree work at an institution of higher learning, a certificate program or a workshop.
- Documentation of balance due for the current or past education costs is required.

- Full Time Employee - Current Tuition: Request Amount Unlimited
- Full Time Employee - Past Education: Max $2,500 per Calendar Year, Max $10,000 in 4 Years
- Part Time Employee - Current Tuition: Request Amount Unlimited
- Part Time Employee - Past Education: Max $2,500 per Calendar Year, Max $10,000 in 4 Years
Out-of-Footprint States: ID, AZ, FL, HI, NM & TN
- Full Time Employee - Current Tuition: Request Amount Unlimited
- Full Time Employee - Past Education: Unavailable

Good Samaritan Minnesota Scholarship
Requirements & Eligibility:
- Be an employee of a long-term care Good Samaritan facility in Minnesota.
- Good Samaritan employees seeking a degree pertaining to long-term care at a regionally or nationally accredited academic institution.
- For employees pursuing education that leads to advancement in the field of long-term care including but is not limited to CNA certification, LPN, BSN, medical interpreter education, social work, job-related English as a second language or Adult Basic Education training.
- Administrators are exempt from this opportunity.
- Work an average of 10 hours per week/20 hours per bi-weekly period/130 hours per calendar quarter during the period covered by the scholarship.
- These hours can be prorated for partial periods of time
- Example: Employee is in school for part of one session and part of another session
- The 10-hour average weekly work requirement does not apply to scholarships granted for nurse aide expenses.

Employee Information:
- If the total amount of any and all Sanford Health/Good Samaritan scholarships and educational assistance received by an employee in a given year exceeds $5,250, federal taxes will be applied.
- Once an Employee submits their application, their Administrator will be notified and provided instructions for next steps.
- If request is approved, payment or reimbursement will be sent to employee via direct deposit. Please make sure to have your direct deposit set up in OneSource (Workday) prior to the end of the desired semester or before payment is to be sent. Click here for instructions if you need to set this up.
- Educational assistance department processes the approved scholarship payment to the employee via Workday/OneSource.
Note: Employees not eligible for these programs should consider the Educational Assistance program for tuition assistance.
