Temporary Exception Request

A Temporary Exception may be requested when conformance with Stanford University's Accessibility of Electronic Content policy is not technically feasible or would result in a fundamental alteration of the nature of the services provided through that electronic content.

Temporary Exceptions are reviewed on a case-by-case basis and through an interactive process. The Office of Digital Accessibility may engage with the Office of Accessible Education (for academic-related issues) or Diversity and Access Office (for non-academic-related issues) as part of this effort.

After receiving this request, a member of the Office of Digital Accessibility will contact you to initiate next steps.

Note: A temporary exception is not required when the product is considered low risk from an accessibility standpoint. An exception should only be requested if the Accessibility Risk Pre-Screening form has been submitted and someone from our office has confirmed that a temporary exception should be requested.

If you have not already submitted the Accessibility Risk Pre-Screening form, please complete that step first and indicate that your request is part of a procurement where you have been told a temporary exception may be required.
