SESSION DETAILS

Presentation Format:*

Presentation Formats

Workshop: A 75-minute single- or multiple-presenter session related to the conference theme and a conference topic. All workshops must include sufficient time for audience questions, a PowerPoint or other electronic format presentation, and handouts for participants.

Panel: A 75-minute session. An introduction of the topic with each panelist taking time to introduce themselves and their perspectives on the topic. Then allocate time for curated questions from the designated moderator, allow sufficient time for Q&A with the audience ending with a summary and thanks. (No more than 4 panelists and a moderator).

Unpanel (also called a Fishbowl or Samoan Circle): An unpanel is a form of dialog that can be used when discussing topics within large groups and is often used in participatory events like unconferences. The primary advantage of an unpanel is that it allows the entire group to participate in a conversation. Like a traditional panel, there are usually 4-6 discussants on a topic who sit in a circle (the fishbowl) while the audience is seated in concentric circles around them. In an open fishbowl, one chair is left empty and any member of the audience can join the conversation. When this happens, an existing member of the fishbowl must voluntarily leave the fishbowl and free a chair. In a closed fishbowl, all chairs are and remain filled. To start the fishbowl, a moderator introduces the topic and the participants start the discussion. When time runs out, the fishbowl is closed and the moderator summarizes the discussion.

Ted Talk Format: A presentation that is delivered without notes, from memory and the time is short generally, 5-15 minutes. Craft Your TED-Style Talk with these differences in mind:

  • Choose a topic you’re personally passionate about; find an idea you want to share
  • Play with different ways to narrate (take us on) your journey of discovery around that topic
  • Stay focused on your most important point
  • Understand what makes this important to your audience

Do you have a co-presenter/ panelist?*

Please include anyone other than yourself. (Names, Affliliations, email addresses, and work phone numbers)

Identify one to three learning objectives. Each learning objective must be 15 words or less and will be published in the conference program book. A learning objective is a statement in specific and measurable terms that describes what the learner will be able to do as a result of participating in the workshop or panel presentation.

Presentation Criteria

Explain the current ideation of your work; are you researching/creating, implementing, or actively engaging in sustainability practices. This ideation may look like the exploration of the thought processes that lead to the conception of initiatives, strategies, or projects, or implementation involving the execution of plans, turning ideas into tangible practices that manifest in real-world applications, or focusing on ongoing commitment, collaboration, and interaction with sustainable initiatives. Special consideration will be given to proposals that not only clearly articulate transformative ideas, but also meticulously formulate actionable solutions to address our collective needs while empowering a shared call-to-action.

Is the workshop suitable for beginners looking to get started, individuals at an intermediate level, or those with advanced knowledge of the CDA® (Child Development Associate) process and implementation?
