ORCA Support: Someone will be assigned from the College Office of Research and Creative Activity to support your submission based on assistance requested as time allows.


NO SUPPORT DESIRED-PI led: You are choosing to handle all components for the submission process. No other support from your department/center/institute or the Office of Research and Creative Activity will be provided. Please note: The ORCA director needs 24 hours prior to the DRA 5-day deadline to review the proposal in Cayuse, and routing should occur as soon as possible to mitigate any delays during this review in case questions arise.

Primary support from ORIED Research Development Team (RDT) includes:

  • Arts and Humanities Fellowships and Grant submissions (supported by Alan Rutenberg and Hannah Schmidt)

  • Large-scale submissions with total budgets of $10 million or above


Primary support from College of Arts & Sciences Research Development staff includes:

  • Fellowship and Grant Submission not already supported by ORIED RDT
  • Large-scale submissions with total budgets of $10 million or below
  • Support building proposal team
  • Review of comments from previous submission

DEFINITIONS

  • Strategy Consultation: Ensures that the proposed research aligns with both the funding agency’s goals and the grant’s objectives. Provide a “fit analysis” for the grant based on grant guidelines, eligibility criteria, and key deliverables. 1-2 months prior to sponsor due date
  • Concept Papers: Assist in crafting concise and compelling summaries of the proposed projects for securing interest and feedback from program officers before submitting full proposals. 2 or more months prior to target submission date
  • Content Edit of Idea/Aims: Assist in drafting a compelling narrative that clearly outlines the problem statement, hypothesis, methodology, expected results, and potential impact. 1-2 months prior to sponsor due date
  • Content Edit of Sponsor Aims: Apply the agency’s evaluation criteria to the proposed project including eligibility, evaluation metrics, and submission guidelines. 1-2 months prior to sponsor due date
  • Copy-edit: Ensures that the narrative is polished and free of grammatical errors. Reviewed items include: grammar, spelling, clarity, conciseness, consistency, and narrative flow. 2-4 weeks prior to sponsor due date
  • Revise and Resubmit Comments: Synthesize and categorize reviewer comments into action steps for revision. Identify threshold concepts or methods for improving future submissions. 1-2 months prior to sponsor due date
