2023-2024 School Year - Cameras in the Classroom Survey
The cameras in the classroom survey is the method by which the Texas Education Agency collects the data required under Texas Education Code Section 29.022(q), which relates to requests made for the installation and operation of video and audio equipment in certain special education classrooms and special education settings, including the number of requests made, authorized, or denied.
The following survey questions pertain to the 2023-2024 school year and should be answered cumulatively from the first instructional day to the last instructional day of the 2023-2024 school year. Classrooms that use cameras as standard practice do not need to be reported. The survey is to collect data on additional requests for cameras in the classroom outside of normal operating procedures.
Each school district and open enrollment charter school is also required to submit an assurance through the Texas Legal Framework that the district or school has completed the survey accurately and by the required deadline.
The window for completing the survey and assurance is October 21, 2024 through December 13, 2024.
Only one survey should be submitted by each district or open enrollment charter school, and the person completing the survey should be the administrator assigned under TEC 29.022(a-2), who has been designated as the administrator at the primary administrative office of the district or school with responsibility for coordinating the provision of equipment to schools and campuses.
Questions related to the survey may be submitted to sped@tea.texas.gov.
