Statement of Intent to Apply for Promotion and/or Tenure

This statement of intent is due no later than May 31 (Faculty Manual Section 2.10.2 for promotion candidates; Section 2.11.4 for tenure candidates). Please consult the Faculty Manual for additional promotion and tenure information.

Faculty Manual - Section 2.10.4.2

For faculty members hired on or after August 1, 2020, promotion to associate professor is linked to the awarding of tenure.


Faculty members hired before August 1, 2020, may choose to apply for promotion to associate professor and tenure separately, under the procedures, criteria, and Faculty Rating Grid published in the August 2019 edition of the Faculty Manual, all of which are reprinted in Appendix A of the current edition. A faculty member who chooses to apply under the August 2019 procedures, criteria, and Faculty Rating Grid must declare this decision in the Statement of Intent to Apply for Promotion/Tenure. This decision cannot later be rescinded.

 

 

Faculty Manual - Section 2.11

Tenure is defined as the right to an annual contract as a member of the St. Edward’s University Faculty in accord with the terms specified in the contract section of the current Faculty Manual (section 2.2.2.3). The awarding of tenure is normally linked to a faculty member’s promotion to associate professor. A faculty member at the rank of associate professor but not yet tenured is eligible to apply for tenure separately at any time.


For faculty members hired on or after August 1, 2020, promotion to associate professor is linked to the award of tenure. Faculty members hired before August 1, 2020, may choose to apply for promotion to associate professor and tenure separately, under the procedures and criteria published in the August 2019 edition of the Faculty Manual, which are reprinted in Appendix A of the current edition.
