William Gass Centenary Celebration

As part of their celebration of the centenary of renowned writer and faculty emeritus William H. Gass (1924-2017), WashU Libraries invite you to submit recollections you have of Gass as a professor, lecturer, mentor, colleague or friend. While Gass’s accomplishments as a literary writer of both fiction and non-fiction are rightly praised around the world, we want to also acknowledge his talents and dedication as an educator—as someone who strived to better the lives and minds of students, colleagues, and community members during his more than thirty years at WashU, and well into retirement.

Whether it’s one memory of attending a lecture or reading he gave, one story of him in a class you took, or a longer narrative arc of his personal influence on your life, we welcome your input! With your permission, we will post quotations on the Soul Inside the Sentence digital exhibit.
