BACS Integration Elective Petitions

Please submit this form if:

  • You are enrolled in a course that is listed on the CS Advising Guide's list of approved Integration Electives, but need the SIS exception to be made.

  • You are enrolled in a course that you believe should qualify as a BACS Integration Elective based on the coursework, but it is not listed on the CS Advising Guide or the Undergraduate Record.

Please DO NOT submit this form if the course is already listed on the Undergraduate Record's official list of Integration Electives as SIS will automatically count these.

NOTE: We may not be able to decide on your petition if the information we need is: a) not available because the course will first be offered in a future semester, b) because it’s at another university and you can’t get this information, or c) because you can’t get that information for some other reason.

In such cases, you may have to wait until you can get that info without knowing whether or not we’ll approve it in the end. If such uncertainty is a concern, it might be better to plan to take an approved course rather than risk a negative response from us later.

Are you currently a declared BACS/CS-BA Major?*

Please note that if you have not declared a BACS/CS-BA major yet, we will not be able to enter the exception in SIS (if your petition is approved). You are welcome to still submit your petition now, but you will need to email cs-office@virginia.edu to remind us to enter the exception once you have declared your major.

Is this course in The College? *

Please note that students are only allowed to count one (1) non-College course towards the Integration Elective requirement.

Is this course already on the approved list?*

You will still need to submit this form even if the course is on the list of approved Integration Electives. The list can be found here.

If already on the approved list, just type: "approved"
