Request Details - Becoming Butterflies


Becoming Butterflies Field Trip Availability:


  • March 4, 2025 - April 30, 2025
  • Tuesday & Wednesday
  • 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM or 12:30 PM - 2:30 PM*


*All groups will have a 1-hour time limit within the Conservatory.


No Butterflies in the Garden field trips will be available during FWISD spring break, March 17, 2025 - March 21, 2025.


Becoming Butterflies Field Trip Pricing:

STEM Challenge: Sensational Seeds


  • Learning Level: Pre-K – 2nd Grade
  • Content: Learners will investigate the journey from seed to plant in the natural world by exploring our Garden. They will also experience what it takes to be a meteorologist as they observe the weather and make predictions.
  • Activities: Bean Dissection, Investigate How Seeds Travel, Analyze Weather Instruments, Create Your Own Seed Ball


STEM Challenge: Energy in EcoRegions


  • Learning Level: 3rd – 5th Grade
  • Content: Learners will embark on an adventure through the Garden, visiting seven distinct areas to discover the wonders of renewable energy and ecosystems.
  • Activities: Interactive Food Web, Investigate Solar Energy, Measure Wind Speed, Feed the Fish


STEM Challenge: Sustainable Systems


  • Learning Level: Middle School / High School
  • Content: Learners will explore what it takes to make healthy soil, the importance of biodiversity, and key sustainability practices to gain a greater understanding of conserving natural resources.
  • Activities: Investigate the Compost Outpost, Analyze Healthy Soil, Observe Biodiversity and Water Conservation with Native Plants

Participant Count - Becoming Butterflies

Adult Chaperones: Minimum requirement of one chaperone per ten students. Any unregistered guests joining a group on the day of a Becoming Butterflies Field Trip will pay the regular garden admission of $12** and are not guaranteed access to the Conservatory. We strongly recommend registering all adults to save time and money.

  • 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM = maximum of 120 participants
  • 12:30 PM- 2:30 PM = maximum of 60 participants
