Rural School Cohort - Application

Project Details

In partnership with No Kid Hungry and the Oklahoma Department of Human Services, Hunger Free Oklahoma is looking for rural school districts to join a learning cohort. The project will explore scalable ways for rural schools to easily connect students and their families to resources that build/protect food security and health.


•    Project duration 2022-2023 school year

•    Preference will be given to schools that serve vulnerable populations

•    Training and resources are provided and available in a virtual format

Participating school districts will:


  1. Submit a letter of agreement
  2. Designate a project liaison to serve as the primary contact and form a planning and implementation team
  3. Identify and assess barriers/needs/opportunities
  4. Test resources and strategies to connect eligible families with SNAP application assistance
  5. Provide input to adapt strategies and resources for wider rural use
  6. Participate in virtual meetings
  7. Assist with reporting and NKH site visits if requested
