Summer Employment Program Application

Maine Medical Center Department of Vocational Services' Summer Employment Program is a 6-week supported work experience for young people with disabilities aged 16 – 24. Individuals are placed in a part-time job at MaineHealth Maine Medical Center-Portland or MaineHealth Maine Medical Center- Biddeford and receive a competitive hourly wage for their work. Each individual has a job coach that provides support around learning job tasks, communication skills and social skills on the job. Biweekly workshops address work-related topics, and individuals develop a career portfolio through the summer. At the close of the program, participants and their loved ones are invited to a recognition celebration and reception. A written summary of the work experience is provided at the close of the program for reference in employment support planning.
