RAS Volunteer Form

Thank you for your interest in volunteer activities within the IEEE Robotics and Automation Society Membership Activities Board (MAB). MAB is responsible for all RAS membership-related activities, and in particular for member services. Please provide information about yourself and the areas for which you are interested in volunteering.

Volunteer Opportunities

Chapter & International Activities Committee

The CIAC is charged with organizing and fostering international cooperation among scholars and students. RAS Section and Student Branch Chapters are an important means towards this goal.The Committee shall ensure that members and students of all regions are well represented and feel equally at home in the diverse Society activities (conferences, schools, ballots, etc.).

Education Committee

The Education Committee is in charge of coordinating and fostering RAS educational initiatives. An important means toward this goal are specialized meetings, workshops and dedicated conference sessions on the education of students. Society-sponsored books and summer schools/technical education programs are also under the responsibility of this Committee.

Human Rights and Ethics Committee

The Human Rights and Ethics Committee is responsible for making recommendations to the AdCom for actions to be taken on behalf of the Society for the benefit of members or colleagues whose professional activities have been severely hampered by governmental, institutional, or other authorities. It shall also be responsible for making recommendations on issues such as conflict of interest, student/teacher relations, etc., and promulgating information on these matters to the membership.

Life Member Committee

The Life Member Committee shall promote the activities of Life Members in IEEE RAS through Society activities in cooperation with all Society Boards, Committees and Working Groups. Activities will include promotion of IEEE membership in RAS.

Member Services Committee

The Member Services Committee is charged with improving the services provided to RAS members. The emphasis will be on the mentoring and guidance of junior members of the Society along with a variety of new services (e.g., professional and networking) to the more senior members.

Membership, Admissions & Retention Committee

This Committee shall be responsible for encouraging membership in the Society by all members of the IEEE who are interested in the Field of Interest of the Society, and by non-IEEE members as Affiliate Members. The Committee also focuses on membership retention.

Student Activities Committee (SAC)

The Student Activities Committee (SAC) provides students with opportunities to advance their careers and improve their professional experience by facilitating active networking, interdisciplinary dialogue, and robotics education at all levels. The SAC arranges a set of activities at ICRA, IROS, and CASE -- the three annual flagship conferences of the Robotics and Automation Society. Participants in these events have the opportunity to network with innovators, potential future mentors, colleagues, and friends. The Committee also publishes a column in the IEEE Robotics & Automation Magazine, maintains the RAS Facebook page with Society news and announcements.

Women in Engineering (WIE)

Women in Engineering Committee (WIE) promotes Women in Engineering through Society activities in cooperation with all RAS Boards, Committees and Working Groups. The goal of WIE is to facilitate the recruitment and retention of women in the fields of robotics and automation globally.

Young Professionals

The Young Professionals Committee shall promote Young Professional (members and volunteers who have graduated from their first professional degree within the past 15 years) participation in RAS activities in cooperation with all RAS Boards, Committees and Working Groups. The YP Committee organizes events designed to help members elevate their professional image, expand their global network, and connect with peers.

Young Reviewers Program

The Young Reviewers Program (YRP) aims to introduce IEEE RAS students to sound practices in peer reviewing of scientific papers. To achieve this objective, student YRP members are supervised by senior reviewers (SRs) in regular RAS review procedures.
