2022 Young Scholars Interest Survey

Santa Clara University is piloting a high school Young Scholars residential summer program for 2022. We would like to know whether you'd be interested in teaching such a short non-credit course (with compensation) and gather your fun creative ideas that would engage and inspire students. Please note that the approval process would involve departments, the Dean's Office, and the Young Scholars planning team. Here are some details to consider. It may be tweaked over the next months but we would be in touch with final policies with any selected faculty. • Two week experience. Currently tentative for July 5-15, 2022 and July 18-29, 2022. You can choose to teach at one or both camp sessions. • Faculty would teach once a day for 8-10 days for 2-2.5 hrs/day equivalent to 20hrs over a 2 week course. • Compensation is $4000 for each course instruction and one time payment of $1000 for course design and prep. • Class size of approximately 20 students. No homework or grading required. • Students entering their sophomore, junior, or senior year of high school. Ages ranging from 15-17. • TAs are possible but limited with separate compensation. Those Broncos who TA and work as a counselor would receive free housing and food. If you have questions or want to bounce ideas about an engaging high school non-credit course, please feel free to contact Katy Korsmeyer. Deadline is September 15.

Please list a phone number that you are currently checking (in case your office number is not forwarded to you now) for any quick questions we might have.

If you are appointed in more than one department or program, please select the one that is the best match for this course.
