Be a Building Marshal!

This form is for both current building marshals, floor captains, and new volunteer interest. Signing up through this form indicates interest and does not guarantee a position as a Building Marshal. Confirmation will be sent by end of April.

Building Marshals are campus employees who work in regularly occupied campus buildings and volunteer to perform essential activities for the purpose of minimizing injury to campus faculty, staff, and students in the event of an emergency. Not open to student assistants.

Building Marshal responsibilities include:

  • Evacuate and ensure all persons and animals are in a safe area
  • Verify building/floor is vacant before exiting
  • Shut down vital equipment
  • Be a liaison with officials upon their arrival
  • Utilize evacuation chairs for injured or disabled persons
  • First Aid/CPR/AED trained and certified

Training, equipment, and access to emergency management information will be provided.

If more volunteers sign-up than are needed, a back-up list will be created to use in the event of an emergency and to fill in any vacancies.
