Language Pay Differential Request Form: Pathway 3

On December 16, 2020, Portland City Council unanimously passed Resolution No. 37525 to authorize a Language Pay Differential Policy to compensate qualifying multilingual City employees who use their language skill to assist the community. City staff must pass a verbal language proficiency test to receive the language pay differential. The pay differential is $1.00 per hour added to the base wage of qualifying employees for all hours worked.

The City’s Language Pay Differential Policy includes three Pathways for employees to be considered for the language pay differential. City employees and managers/supervisors are to select the applicable Pathway for eligibility.
