PP&R Community Partnership Soccer Grants

Portland Parks & Recreation’s (PP&R) Community Partnership Program is pleased to announce a new grant opportunity for soccer camps through PP&R’s Sports Program.

Community Partnership Grants are made possible through the Parks Local Option Levy.

Background:

Starting in 2010, PP&R hosted, with community partners, an annual Portland World Soccer Tournament. Thousands of young people from more than two dozen communities and representing more than 25 different languages participated over ten years. The tournament was canceled in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic and has not happened since.

Soccer Grant Opportunity:

Through the Sports Program and Community Partnership Program, PP&R will continue the spirit of the Portland World Soccer Tournament in a new format. Instead of a tournament, PP&R will use grant funding to support soccer camps, focused on underserved and underrepresented youth in Portland, at no cost to participants.

PP&R expects to award either one large grant up to $40,000 for citywide soccer programming, or multiple smaller grants and Independent Contractor Agreements (ICAs) between $5,000 and $10,000 to individuals and organizations.

In partnership with PP&R’s Sports Program, grantees will plan, organize, staff, and implement soccer camps reaching diverse youth. Soccer camps will focus on underserved and underrepresented youth in Portland, at no cost to participants.

Interested organizations should complete the following Statement of Interest. The Statement of Interest must be received by 11:59 pm, April 2, 2023. Awardees will be notified before May 15, 2023.

Applicants must detail outreach efforts that celebrate cultural traditions and diversity amongst camp participants.

Grant award funding is for July 1, 2023 through June 30, 2024, with priority given to summer 2023 soccer camp programs.
