Hiring Freeze Notification

As the Provost and President wrote in their email, we're developing next year's budget amid rising financial uncertainties for U.S. universities. Potential NIH funding cuts, fluctuating federal research support, and proposed endowment tax increases create significant budget challenges. We will refine our budget as federal policy outcomes become clearer, but in the meantime, we must be cautious in our spending, which means the hiring freeze. This decision was made to ensure the financial stability and long-term health of Stanford.


Please note that there will be additional approval steps required for all current and new job posting requests. Additional justification may be required prior to approval and delays in posting may occur.
