Lead Service Line - Resident Confirmation Form
Please note that completing this verification form does not guarantee DWSD will be able to replace your lead service line in the near future as that is dependent upon funding resources.
As the Detroit Water & Sewerage Department (DWSD) continues to update our Verified Service Line Inventory records for the City of Detroit, and replaces lead service lines at a rapid rate, your assistance in the verification process can be helpful to both you and your neighbors.
DWSD has started a neighborhood-by-neighborhood approach to replace lead service lines. Neighborhoods are being prioritized if they have a density of housing built prior to 1945, have a significant amount of children and seniors in the area, and are in low-income areas based on Census tracts.
At this time, it will take about 10 years to replace all the lead service lines in the city of Detroit. When your neighborhood is ready to be scheduled, there will be community outreach and you will be notified with a door hanger. Please upload a photo of your service line taken near your basement wall or floor where the pipe enters your home right before it connects to the water meter.
