All commercial premises containing asbestos materials must hold an asbestos register. The first step in achieving this is to have a Management survey conducted. If you currently hold a Type 2 (replaced by MGT survey in 2012) then you should review to ensure this is still fit for purpose and suitably reflects the building structure/layout as it is and the current occupation/routine maintenance activities carried out. Risk Assessments done?

The Control of Asbestos Regulations (CAR) 2012 requires the duty holder to assess the risks associated with the activities on the premises, additional to those considered within the material risk.

As a duty holder, your are obligated under The Control of Asbestos Regulations (CAR) 2012 to make sure that regular re-inspection is carried out to your identified materials by a suitably trained/competent person. As a duty holder of a commercial premises, you are required under The Control of Asbestos Regulations (CAR) 2012 to have an Asbestos management Plan.
