Multi-factor Authentication (MFA) Survey

The Nevada Criminal Justice Information System (NCJIS) Modernization Program is about to launch the new Nevada Civil and Criminal Justice Information System (NCCIS) Portal for which multi-factor authentication (MFA) will be required.

MFA is an authentication method that requires the user to provide two or more verification factors to gain access to a resource such as an application, online account, or a VPN. MFA is a core component of a strong identity and access management (IAM) policy. Rather than just asking for a username and password, MFA requires one or more additional verification factors, which decreases the likelihood of a successful cyber-attack.

Some criminal justice agencies may already have an MFA solution in place, but it may or may not work with NCJIS. Agencies with MFA solutions should make it known to the NCJIS team through this survey below.

Pertinent information is needed to learn more about what each agency has in place as an MFA tool.

All criminal justice agencies are requested to complete this brief survey to provide MFA-specific information.

Please complete this MFA survey by December 12, 2022.
