Study Groups and Tutoring Application

Thank you for your interest in serving as a peer leader for Academic Support & Learning Advancement’s STEM-focused programs (Peer-Guided Study Groups, Mentored Study Program, and Drop-In Peer Tutoring). During the interview and selection process, you will have an opportunity to select your program and subject preferences.


In general, we require applicants to have a B+ or higher in the courses they want to support. Be sure to review the job descriptions.


NOTE: We encourage you to apply even if you have completed only one quarter of a course sequence.

Program Commitment

Being a peer leader for a course-specific program is a significant commitment, but a very rewarding experience as well. We are looking for peer leaders who are not just comfortable with the course material, but also highly responsible, empathetic, and committed to facilitating group learning.


We ask our peer leaders to be available for the full academic year. Staffing needs may vary, subject to demand. Rare exceptions may be made for spring quarter conflicts. All first-year peer leaders must be available in fall 2025.
