Please describe (in 250 words or less) how this event will attract and help to promote scientific literacy among local citizens while invigorating your Local Section and stimulating thinking among nonscientists about questions of the day that have a scientific underpinning*

I am interested in organizing a Science Cafe in our Local Section and am applying for a (up-to) $500 mini-grant to support this activity. I understand that mini-grant funds can be used to support speaker travel, for advertising and promotion, or to help offset other costs associated with the hosting the Science Cafe - with the exception of speaker stipends, which may not be included/needs to be off-set by other monetary avenues.*

I agree that a summary report describing the event will be submitted to LSAC within 30 days of the conclusion of the event. I acknowledge that if a summary report of the Science Cafe event is not sent to lsac@acs.org my section will not be considered for additional Science Cafe Mini-Grants.
