Non-Traditional Point of Sale Request
Utilize this form when a school site does not have the ability to place the Point of Sale at the end of the serving line. Per regulations, meal counting and claiming can only occur when a student has a fully reimbursable meal. Meal pattern requirements, such as vegetable subgroups, must be offered before the POS.
Request Examples:
- The salad bar is placed after the POS due to space and electrical outlets. Students at lunch are offered a meat and grain, counted at the POS, and then have access to the salad bar with the fruit and vegetable components. In this instance, sites must have a second person confirming that the student walks away with a fully reimbursable meal.
- Students coming through the line are served a fully reimbursable meal. The site is not operating offer versus serve. Students are claimed at the POS. The vegetable subgroups are only offered on the salad bar, which is located after the POS.
