Reserve Capacity Requirement Groups allow a department to reserve seats for specific groups of students in an individual course section. As this function is essentially an unpublished prerequisite, application should be limited, and the department should always add an SOC Note to notify students that a Reserve Capacity is in use. More information about Reserve Capacities.
General purpose Reserve Capacity Requirement Groups:
- 011862 - Senior Reserve Cap
- 011861 - Junior/Senior Reserve Cap
- 011864 - Sophomore/Jr/Sr Reserve Cap
- 011517 - First-Year ONLY Reserve Cap (only first year students)
To request a new Reserve Capacity Requirement Group to reserve seats for certified majors or minors:
- Submit this form outlining the problem and indicating how existing options do not meet the needs of the department.
- The request will be routed to the Registrar's Office to Heather Morgan, Assistant Registrar who will review the request and may request additional information.
- Once parameters are determined, our workflow will request approval from the Department Chair and Associate Dean, or their designee.
- When approved, Heather will create the Reserve Capacity and email the requestor with the code.
- The department scheduler will set up the Reserve Capacity in Maintain Schedule of Classes and will add an SOC Note to explain why seats are not available and if the seats will be released to other students prior to the start of the term. The Campus Scheduler can provide training.
