Library Research Instruction Request
for Mt. SAC Faculty
We are excited to offer your classes tailored research instruction sessions. Faculty can collaborate with their Librarian Liaison to deliver engaging and impactful sessions that align seamlessly with your class learning objectives.
Scheduling library research instruction helps foster a culture of inquiry and critical thinking within your classroom, and our engaging and interactive sessions will empower your students to harness the full potential of our vast collection and digital resources.
How to Schedule:
Complete this form to request a research workshop for your class. Once submitted, the Librarian Liaison for your discipline will reach out to confirm the details.
Lead Time:
To ensure ample time for planning, coordination, and room scheduling, please submit your requests at least two weeks before the session.
Professor's Role:
Your active participation is greatly needed! Your presence during the workshop is a powerful endorsement of the session's value, and your attendance or a representative's is essential. Plus, students often have questions about their assignments when they start digging into their research.
Prepping Your Students to Enhance the Experience:
We've found that a few small things to prepare students for the research session can significantly impact its success and students' comfort level.
- Students are familiar with the assignment before the session.
- Students have their topics or a few topics they are exploring.
One idea - encourage students to complete the drop-in Developing Research Topics workshop before the tailored session so they're ready to hit the research road running! The Developing Research Topics workshop is available on campus, in Zoom, and asynchronously through Canvas.
We're excited to collaborate with you in fostering a culture of critical inquiry and research excellence!
