AZGFD Heritage K-12 Small Grant Application - 2024/2025

OVERVIEW The goal of this grant program is to provide financial resources (up to $3000) to Arizona educator to help implement quality wildlife education in their classrooms.


APPLICANT ELIGIBILITY Any education professional who is employed with a public school (district or charter), government agency or non-profit organization is eligible to apply. However, preference will be given to current K-12 teachers within the formal public classroom education environment .


PROJECT ELIGIBILITY In order to be eligible to receive funding, a project must fit at least one of three criteria:

- Criterion 1: AZGFD Educator Professional Development Participation

- Criterion 2: Teacher-designed Field Experiences

- Criterion 3: School-based Wildlife Education Projects and Resources


AVAILABLE FUNDS A total of $32,000 is available during this grant cycle. This money is provided by the Arizona Game and Fish Department’s annual allocation of Arizona lottery Heritage funding.


GRANT CYCLE AND DEADLINE For the current fiscal year funding cycle, there can be up to two deadlines for this funding cycle: September 1 and January 1. Both deadlines cover the same grant cycle. If applications come in after the September deadline, then they will automatically be moved to the January deadline date and the applicant will be notified. In addition, both deadlines utilize the same pool of money. If all available money is awarded during the September deadline, then the grant cycle will close and the January deadline will no longer be valid.

Provide a short, descriptive title of the project that will use these funds.

Provide a description of your project that will give the scorers a clear idea of what you plan to do. Be as specific as possible. Please limit to the space provided.

Provide a brief description of the project implementation timeline. Be sure to include start and end dates and all major milestones.

List the major Arizona academic standards that will be addressed with your project and briefly describe how you will evaluate success.

Cannot exceed $3000.

Provide an ITEMIZED list and description of how the money will be spent. Be as specific as possible. NOTE: Match plays a big role in the financial value scoring. Be sure to include any matching funds and resources that will be used as part of this project. This could include matching grants, salaries that are not being paid as part of this grant, and equipment donated or purchased through other funds. Please keep in mind that volunteer hours also count in the match. Independent Sector publishes an annual value of a volunteer in the United States. It is currently at $29.95 per hour.
