Tourism Business Enabling Environment Intern

1. BACKGROUND:

The USAID-funded Visit Tunisia Activity is a 5-year project designed to enhance Tunisia’s tourism potential, with the goal of generating revenue and jobs, particularly for women and youth, and for populations in underserved regions of the country. The overall vision behind USAID’s investment in Tunisia’s tourism sector is to capitalize on Tunisia’s natural, cultural, heritage, and historical sites to develop a more diversified and high-quality tourism sector that contributes to broad-based economic growth. Through this activity, USAID seeks to contribute to Tunisia’s growth and development to offset the negative economic impact of the coronavirus crisis.

3.DETAILED RESPONSIBILITIES

The Internship position requires strong interpersonal, communication, and business skills to complete the tasks associated with its broad responsibilities, including those listed below.

•Provide support in the development of database of project relevant private sector and public sector organizations, relevant for research purposes and other communication needs.

•Provide support with desk research for various needs related to tourism product development, human capital development, and tourism quality assurance.

•Provide support in translation and review of various project-related documents, including but not limited to surveys for planned research activities.

•Provide support in the preparation of a technical report, powerpoint presentations, and meeting aide memories.

•Provide support to monitor closely tourism-related press and keep a track of market trends and opportunities.

•Other duties and activities as requested by the Team and agreed with the Team Leader./

4.PERIOD OF INTERNSHIP

This is a short-term internship position for six (6) months.

5. LOCATION OF THE ASSIGNMENT

This assignment will be in based in Tunis, intern will be required to attend the VISIT TUNISIA office on a daily basis, except when work place protocols direct otherwise.

6. SUPERVISION AND REPORTING

The Intern will report to the Business Enabling Environment Team Leader.

7. QUALIFICATIONS

The Intern should possess the following range of qualifications and experiences:

• Bachelor’s degree in tourism management, hospitality management, business administration, or a related field is required.

• Master’s degree in tourism management or related field is desirable.

• Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills is required.

• Fluent English required.

• Strong leadership and interpersonal skills is desired.

• Strong research and analytical skills is desired.

• A passion for tourism development and sustainable tourism development is desired.

• Experience working or interning with USAID projects or other donor entities is desired.
