VMCAS 2026 Fee Assistance Program
International Applicant (Non-UN Least Developed Country) Form
The VMCAS 2026 International Applicant Fee Assistance Program is sponsored by the Association of American Veterinary Medical Colleges (AAVMC). A limited number of fee waivers are available through this program and the deadline for requesting a fee waiver is August 14, 2025 or once the allotted funds are exhausted. Please wait to request a fee waiver until you are prepared to submit your application as the fee waivers will have an expiration of 14 days from the date of approval.
International Applicants (Non-UN Least Developed Country)
Note: This process should only be used if you are an applicant from a country NOT on the UN Least Developed Country list have extreme financial need but are not able to qualify under the other Fee Assistance Programs VMCAS offers.
Your request must include:
- Proof of your U.S.-based address
- Foreign Income Letter
- The foreign Income letter should detail income received while residing in a country outside of the United States. This income could come from working in the foreign country, or other sources such as family or support from a foreign state or charitable organizations. To complete this form, please provide:
- Name of person who received foreign income
- Country of Residence
- Foreign Income coverted into U.S. Dollars
- Your signature certifying the information you entered
- You may include any additional details if you feel they are pertinent
The award approval for the Fee Assistance Program is tied directly to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ poverty guidelines. In 2025, you are eligible for fee assistance if each household reported on your application (yours and your parents, as applicable) has a 2024 total family income that is equal to or less than 300% of the 2024 national poverty level for your family size. Refer to the AAVMC website for the specific Fee Assistance Program Poverty Guidelines.
Applicants who fail to include any of the required supporting documents with their request will be automatically withdrawn from the Fee Assistance Program process for the current cycle. Information contained in the Foreign Income Letter will be reviewed with all other documents submitted but will not guarantee approval for fee assistance.
Your request for a waiver must be received before you submit your VMCAS application. If granted, you will receive a waiver equivalent to the "first school" fee ($241). If you apply to more than one VMCAS school, you are responsible for an incremental fee of $132 for each additional designation. This fee assistance program is applied to the VMCAS application fee only. You are still responsible for supplemental application fees.
Disclaimer: Applicants who report false information or submit forged/falsified documents may be in danger of having their VMCAS 2026 application canceled by VMCAS.
