Your chapter name should follow one of the two following naming conventions:

1) Institution SACNAS Chapter

2) SACNAS Chapter at Institution

3) Area Name SACNAS Chapter

4) SACNAS Chapter of the Area Name

Examples include: "Genentech SACNAS Chapter", "SACNAS Chapter at Denali Therapeutics"

Your chapter should have a general email account for interested people to be able to contact your chapter. This may be an email setup through a free email service (e.g. bayareasacnas@gmail.com) or through your institution (e.g. sacnas@usc.edu).


CHAPTER MEMBERSHIP

A minimum of 5 professional members are required to start a new professional chapter. Members are highly encouraged to have an active SACNAS membership.

CHAPTER DEVELOPMENT

Limit response to 300 words. Examples may include: seeking grants, collecting sales, and/or collecting donations. Note: if your chapter does not require fundraising from external sources, please indicate that here.


CHAPTER ACTIVITIES

Professional SACNAS Chapters should provide at least 6 activities to their members per year, focusing on the areas below. Please describe your plan to include activities in one or more of the following areas. In areas you do not plan to host any activities, please put N/A.

Limit response to 300 words. Examples may include: guidance on career transitions, resources to prepare for a leadership position in STEM, and opportunities to enhance their leadership skills.

Limit response to 300 words. Examples may include: mentoring opportunities, as well as social activities outside of the workplace and research environments.

Limit response to 300 words. Examples may include: collaborating with local organizations, resources centers, and leaders to provide members with research and leadership opportunities, as well as securing funding for members to participate and represent institutions in national conferences.

Limit response to 300 words. Examples may include: engaging with universities and other local organizations to encourage students to pursue careers in STEM, advocating for local policies that positively impact URMs in STEM.

Your application must include all of the following documents.

1. Chapter Membership: Chapter Roster

Use this template to provide a full roster of professionals and supporting staff. All members are encouraged to have an active SACNAS membership. Please list all members regardless of SACNAS Membership status.

2. Chapter Development: Chapter Charter (previously bylaws)

Please make sure to use this template and include necessary signatures.

3. Activities Timeline

Please provide a timeline of proposed activities for the next 12 months. You can include any activities that have already taken place.
