LLILAS FLAS APPLICATION

Foreign Language and Area Studies Fellowship

Summer and Academic Year Term Application

Thank you for applying for undergraduate or graduate student funding from the University of Texas to study a less commonly taught language. This opportunity is made possible by the Foreign Language and Area Studies (FLAS) grant provided by the U.S. Department of Education.

Before applying it is important to note that it is the student's responsibility to make certain that the application is complete; incomplete applications will not be considered. Under certain circumstances, applications and all supporting materials may be submitted by email, but please contact the FLAS coordinator if you need us to consider this option.

Be sure to read all of the descriptions and instructions carefully, as specific information is required for certain fields. It is recommended that you reserve enough time to fill out the entire application, including all required file uploads. The estimated time to complete the application is 60 minutes (without prepared materials) or 20 minutes (with prepared materials). However, you able to stop, leave, and return to a survey at a later time within 1 week of your last access. You are encouraged to record your responses to the application in a separate document in case of a technical glitch that might cause you to lose your progress.

If you have questions or issues, contact your FLAS coordinator at llilasflas@austin.utexas.edu.
