Autumn Restricted Burning Period.

Permits during this period are only issued to Primary Producers for seeding preparation purposes only. Burning will only be approved for Stubble and Pasture/Grass. Refusal will be given if it is outside of these conditions.


Further easing of restrictions will be considered as seasonal conditions evolve.

Provide all legal addresses that you will be burning.

Permit is valid for 7 days only unless extended have been approved.


Authorised Officers for the Shire of Northam are Volunteer Fire Control Officers. Please allow up to 5 business days to receive your permit.


If an extension is required, an email will be sent to you 2 days before the end of the current approved permit, requesting if an extension is required. Otherwise contact the Shire of Northam Emergency Service Office for more information on 9622 6100.

NOTE:

Note: - PERMITS ARE CANCELLED for 24 hours where the Fire Danger Rating (FDR) for the Avon Region is HIGH, EXTREME OR CATASTROPHIC or when a HARVEST VEHICLE MOVEMENT BAN or a TOTAL FIRE BAN has been declared. (Check www.dfes.wa.gov.au) * Penalties apply for any breach*


This permit is issued subject to the provisions of Section 46 of the Bush Fires Act and may be revoked or suspended by a bush fire control officer if, in his/her opinion, the fire, if lit, would become a source of danger.


NB: It is an offence to burn tyres, plastic, chemicals, treated wood and other similar materials, which could produce

smoke or toxic gases

Notify DFES Communication on 1800 198 140 prior to ignition.


Notify Neighbours and adjoining land owner a minimum of 24 hours prior to burning.


Approved permits will only be valid for 7 days and all conditions on the permit must be strictly adhered to.


Breaching of these permit conditions can result in fines or prosecution.

FAILURE TO COMPLY WITH ANY CONDITIONS MAY RESULT IN THE ISSUING OF AN ON-THE-SPOT FINE OF $250 OR COURT ACTION FURTHER PENALTIES MAY APPLY IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE BUSH FIRES (INFRINGEMENTS) REGULATIONS 1978
