Discover the Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP): More Than Just A Summer Job!


The Workforce Development Center invites you to participate in the Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP). This program is not only an opportunity to get paid gaining work experience, but to explore different career options, and build skills that will assist you beyond the workplace—all while making valuable connections. SYEP will connect you with work experience that will help you grow professionally and personally. Whether you’re eager to try something new, discover your passions, or simply learn what it takes to succeed, this is an opportunity to get real-world experience in a failure-free space. We are committed to shaping your experience today, for impact tomorrow.


The 2025 program will run from June 30th to August 8th, 2025. Ready to get started? Eligibility:


To be eligible for SYEP ’25 you must meet the following criteria:


1. Be between the ages of 14 - 21


2. Be a City of Alexandria resident


3. Qualify for Free or Reduced School Lunch


4. Be eligible to work in the United States


To confirm your eligibility, please provide the following documents:


1. Proof of City of Alexandria residency:


Option 1: Most recent report card or college transcript that includes youth’s name and address


Option 2: Government-issued photo ID (driver’s license, learner’s permit, school ID, or VA identification card)


2. Proof of ability to work in the United States:


Option 1:Social Security Card AND Government-issued photo ID


Option 2: Birth Certificate AND Government-issued photo ID


3. Free/Reduced School Lunch Letter Provide your eligibility documents here.
