Genetic Counseling
Board of Directors Application
For Board Term: July 2023 – June 2027
Thank you for your interest in serving on the Accreditation Council for Genetic Counseling (ACGC) Board of Directors (BOD). We are currently accepting applications for the following Board positions:
• Program Leadership Member (program director or associate program directors of fully accredited programs) - 1 available position
• Practitioner Member (certified genetic counselors) - 1 available position
• Academic Member (An Academic member is someone currently or recently engaged to a significant degree in teaching, research, or administration at an educational institution not necessarily associated with a genetic counseling program) - 1 available position
• At-Large Member (any member type) - 1 available position
Individuals are elected to the BOD to serve for four years to conduct the business of ACGC, which is to:
- Accredit graduate programs.
- Monitor trends in the field of genetic counseling and in the area of allied health care accreditation and adjust ACGC guidelines and programs as needed.
- Monitor the interests and concerns of programs seeking accreditation.
- Represent the board with dignity, respect and credibility.
- Manage the financial obligations of ACGC.
ACGC is a deliberative Board that deals with standard setting in post-secondary education. It is important that the work setting of potential board members is supportive since time is often required during the workday to carry out ACGC responsibilities.
