Call for Volunteers: Director of the Examination Committee

The ACVS Board of Regents (board) invites applications from Diplomates interested in serving as the director of the Examination Committee (EC). This position receives an annual stipend and other volunteer benefits. The anticipated start date of this five–year term is July 1, 2025. If possible, the incoming director will attend the summer EC meeting planned for August 3–5. 2025, in Alexandria, VA.


The board appoints the director to manage and coordinate EC activities and provide leadership to identify and implement strategic objectives. The director reports to the board in consultation with the ACVS director of certification. Working closely with the assistant directors, examination consultant, and staff liaisons, the director will oversee the development, administration, and grading of the Phase I and Phase II examinations by the EC.

These resources reflect the current reporting structure. This position and the Examination Committee will have an updated reporting structure following the planned ACVS governance change.
