About:

The series of two classes prepares the expectant mother and her support person for the birthing experience. The class is designed for first time mothers. The class should be taken four to eight weeks prior to your due date.

In this class, you will receive information regarding:

• Pregnancy warning signs
• Signs of preterm labor
• Labor signs
• Stages of labor
• Pain management options including natural birthing techniques, narcotics and epidural
• Medical interventions
• Cesarean delivery
• Postpartum care
• Newborn care
• How to get breastfeeding off to a great start
• The childbirth experience at Hendrick

Childbirth classes are offered at Hendrick Medical Center in Abilene for families planning to deliver at Hendrick Medical Center, Hendrick Medical Center South or Hendrick Medical Center Brownwood.

All classes are offered free of charge through The BirthPlace at Hendrick.
