Tuition Reimbursement Program Application


The Tuition Reimbursement Program was established to financially support Salt Lake County employees in their educational endeavors where those pursuits benefit the County. The tuition program has specific criteria that must be met to participate in the program. Please carefully review the points listed below and refer to Human Resources Policy and Procedure 6-300: Tuition Reimbursement Program for more details.

As with all County benefits, the County Council may choose to modify the Tuition Program. Therefore, acceptance into the program does not guarantee payment.

If you are attending multiple schools during one term you will need to submit an application for each individual school

I understand that the institution I will be attending MUST be accredited by an approved agency*

To be eligible for Tuition Reimbursement the institute that you are attending must be accredited by one of the National or Regional Accreditation Councils for the U.S. Department of Education. Human Resources may reject your application if there is question of your attending institutions qualifications.

UNABLE TO PROCESS TUITION REIMBURSEMENT APPLICATION

According to Salt Lake County HR Policy 6-300: Tuition Reimbursement, the Tuition Reimbursement Application must be submitted no later than 30 calendar days after the beginning of the term that the tuition reimbursement is being requested for.

The maximum tuition reimbursement permitted each tax year is determined by your current FTE status.


  • Full-time employees (1.00 FTE) the maximum reimbursement of $5250
  • Part-time employees (.75 FTE) have a maximum reimbursement of $3937
  • Part-time employees (.50 FTE) have a maximum reimbursement of $2625


*Please note: Temporary employees do not qualify for the Tuition Reimbursement Program per HR Policy 6-300 (II.B.1.) which can be reviewed in the information section of this application.

According to Salt Lake County HR Policy 6-300: Tuition Reimbursement, all courses or doctorate degrees must be relevant to a field within Salt Lake County employment. Please contact Cynthia Carrington for additional information.
