From experience, we know that interns whose employers support their associates with VVI activities are more likely to remain engaged. A letter for you to provide to your employer explaining the VVI will be provided upon acceptance. It is important that you email the letter to your employer (cc'ing vma@vin.com), and discuss what their support can look like.

Will your current employer support you in allowing the time needed to participate in this program?

Candidates must be able to commit approximately 30 minutes a day (2.5 hours a week) to self-growth; this could include some activities that are part of a regular clinical job, as well as count towards the internship progress (e.g., discussing clinic cases with VIN experts, reading up on clinic cases). You determine how much time you spend on the internship – the more you put in, the more you will get out.

Given your current work activities, approximately how many hours each week do you anticipate committing to engagement with the Virtual Veterinary Internship’s curriculum over a period of one year?

General Education and Personal Statement

Please include the following items with this application.

1. Unlike many internships, the VVI is open to colleagues of all academic abilities. Please attach your CV/resume to provide insight to your specific education and areas of focus.

2. Please include a cover letter telling us why you want to enter our unique Virtual Veterinary Internship program and how you are planning to find the time to complete the VVI requirements.

In the cover letter, please also discuss how you think your relationship with a mentor will help or support you. Please share what aspects of mentorship you are most in need of (e.g., debt management, career advice and specialization, developing in general practice, etc.) and how a mentor can help you most.
