COFA Request to Search

Prior to launching a search for any career-track faculty position in the College of Fine Arts, the department chair/school director should discuss their hiring plan with the dean. Then, assemble a search committee, have them help draft the required documents below, then submit this request to search paperwork to the dean’s office for formal approval of the search before it is posted and recruitment begins.

Department Chair/School Director Justification

Please briefly describe what curricular contributions this new hire will make to the department/school. For example, what courses or disciplinary specialization will they teach? At the undergraduate level or at the graduate level? To how many students? For which degree programs or populations? Describe any instructional duties beyond classroom instruction (e.g. department production advising, thesis/dissertation advising).

Only required if the new hire will be expected to perform research/creative work activity.


Please describe what research or practice the new hire will advance. What is their proposed research area of expertise? How does that fit into and/or expand the department/school's existing research strengths? How does this hire fit into the strategic goals of the department/school?
