Boston North Cancer Association Scholarship Application

One applicant will be selected for each scholarship category below from a competitive application process. Answers to essay questions, resume and references must be attached to the application. This is a one-time, non-renewable scholarship of $3,500. BNCA will prioritize applicants with financial need for consideration. Deadline for applications is April 1, 2019.

BNCA restricts funding to applicants who reside in one of the following communities: Amesbury, Andover, Beverly, Danvers, Essex, Gloucester, Hamilton, Ipswich, Lynn, Lynnfield, Manchester-by-the-Sea, Marblehead, Middleton, Nahant, Newbury, Newburyport, Peabody, Rockport, Rowley, Salem, Salisbury, Saugus, Swampscott, Topsfield, Wenham and West Newbury

The submission of a scholarship application shall constitute the applicant’s authorization to Boston North Cancer Association, Inc. to use the applicant’s personal information and photographs for the purpose of promoting the association and the scholarship program.

Please complete the below information about your high school and attach a resume at the end of this application that includes extra-curricular and volunteer activities and employment history. Please include dates of participation, company names, positions held, and leadership roles where appropriate.

Please indicate application status as Accepted, Rejected, Wait-Listed, or Awaiting Response.

Please address the following two questions in a typed essay that is three pages or less. You can attach your essay at the end of the application form.

1. How has cancer played a role in your life and in your goals for the future?

2. Who or what inspired you to pursue a college degree? If you have declared your major, please indicate who or what inspired your choice of major as well.

Please list two references below and include their typed and signed letters of recommendation to support your application.

Please note: References from friends or family members will not be considered.

* Signed Physician Letter (Letter on official letterhead verifying a past or present cancer diagnosis.)
