CADET EXPLORER PROGRAM APPLICATION
EXPLORER POST 2732 The intent of the Unified Police Department Cadet Explorer Program is to educate and involve youth in police operations, to interest them in possible law enforcement careers, and build mutual understanding. The education aspect provides knowledge of the law enforcement functions, whether the participant enters police work or not. Through hands on and classroom training, the Unified Police Department Law Enforcement Cadet Explorer Program establishes an awareness of the complexities of police service. The requirements to join the program are listed below. The youth cadet position is a voluntary non-paid position and has no law enforcement authority. Cadet Explorers may only be used to perform non-enforcement and non-hazardous duties for the UPD under the direct supervision of a UPD officer. The duties of a youth cadet may include, but are not limited to: Providing assistance at special events, taking part in the Ride-along Program, Crime Prevention Programs, Youth Cadet Mentoring Program, and other tasks as assigned. Youth cadets are required to wear a complete uniform during approved functions which will be provided after an evaluation period. The uniform requirements will be given upon acceptance into the program. Youth cadets are considered on call 24 hours a day and are subject to being called out for emergencies at any time of the day or night. UPD reserves the right to reject any applicant.
