Greetings! Detroit Next Gen is a non-paid Mentorship, Leadership, and Public Service Internship program offered through the City of Detroit General Services Department to enhance youth and young adult engagement and participation in policy making, community service, and government operations. The majority of participants are top students from local universities and Top Colleges and Universities across the country. Participants work in various divisions creating media strategies, developing media content such as photo, videos, flyers and social media content, managing marketing campaigns,assisting with the management of various departmental operations, evaluating departmental procedures and policies and coordinating events to increase outreach to (1) maximize Detroit resident engagement with the department (2) enhance equity and opportunity for Detroit residents in the areas of employment and contracts within the Department. Students and young adults can submit applications for the internship program yearly and request their preferred session. (Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter). Session time frame can be adjusted based on any educational requirements. Detroit Next Gen Internships qualify for college credits and degree/major requirements as applicable Students are placed in various areas based on area of interest, major, and degree requirements.
