OS-HELP FORM

OS-HELP is a Commonwealth Government loan. It provides financial assistance to eligible Commonwealth Supported Place, to undertake some of their study overseas. These loans will help students with a range of expenses, such as airfares, accommodation and other travel or study expenses.


The funds for OS-HELP loans are provided by the Department of Education, Skills and Employment but are administered by Monash Abroad.


The amount you borrow will be added to your accumulated HELP debt and will be repayable under the same conditions as your HELP debt. Please refer to the OS-HELP Statement of terms and conditions booklet, for current information.


It is important that you read the eligibility criteria before you commence this application.


If you are eligible and wish to apply for an OS-HELP loan, please submit your application as per the relevant OS-HELP loan term deadline, even if you have not been accepted into your overseas program by that deadline.


Late loan applications are not accepted.

Please ensure you choose the correct term. If you apply for a term which has passed its deadline, your application will be rejected. It is your responsibility to check the due dates of each term.

Proof required consists of a letter from other university where you obtained credits from a prior degree or course that are being applied to your current degree OR all Commonwealth Assistance Notices (CAN) of previous degree/course



  • The letter must be on official university letterhead and should confirm the Commonwealth Supported Place (CSP) status for all units credited towards your current degree.



If you do not provide evidence, your application will NOT be assessed. It is student's responsibility to provide evidence of credit points received from a previous degree as a Commonwealth Supported Place status.


If you do not have evidence at the time of OS-HELP application form submission, you can provide it after you have submitted application form. You need to email MonashAbroad.Enquiries@monash.edu to provide evidence.

5. Language Study Details

Instructions:

You can apply for a supplementary OS-HELP loan if you are partaking in an Asian language program. However this must be in preparation for your overseas studies in Asia.

If you have selected 'Yes' to this question, you MUST answer all of the below questions. Monash Abroad will be in touch to request for supporting documentations at the time of assessment.



If you have selected 'No' to this question, you can continue with your OS-HELP application.

6. OS-HELP loan Terms and Conditions

  1. I have read and understood the Monash University policy on OS-HELP loans and, in particular, the eligibility criteria, the selection principles and the loan conditions which will apply to my application.
  2. I have not received an OS-HELP loan on more than one previous occasion.
  3. I consent to Monash Abroad communicating with me by email or telephone as provided in my Monash Abroad application.
  4. I understand that the personal information provided in this form is collected for the purpose of determining my entitlement for an OS-HELP loan and that, if I provide false or misleading information, Monash University may be required to disclose information contained in this form to the Department of Education. I also understand that Monash University may be required to disclose my personal information as otherwise authorised or required by law.
  5. I understand that I must have at least 0.125 EFTSL (6 Monash credit points) of my Monash degree, for which I am gaining credit for the overseas study, to complete upon my return to Australia. This means I cannot extend my overseas study program if I cannot meet this criterion.
  6. I consent to receive OS-HELP loan offer electronically to my Monash student email.
